Android is known as the world’s most used mobile operating system in the world. Most of the people owns it because there are lot of things in it which can be done with the internet. There are thousands of apps that can entertain you if you have access to internet. With increase in the prices of internet packs and data consumption on the rise, saving every MB is becoming an important task.
There are many people out there who don’t know that your mobile device consumes much internet data than you think. Good news is that, you can actually reduce your mobile data usage without doing anything differently on your Android device. Here in this post I am going to show you some of the best ways to reduce mobile data of an android device.
Some Possible Ways to Reduce Data Usage In Android Device
Stop Auto-Updating Apps
Mobile data is consumed most by background apps. There are many apps which keep on running in background and uses your mobile data for update process. You should stop Android apps from updating automatically. You can change the behaviour of apps and can enable updating only of some apps. So if you wish to disable auto updating process of apps then first of all you will have to open the Google Play Store app on your android device then navigate to its settings and then tap on Auto update apps. Now choose Do not auto-update apps.
Compress Chrome Pages
Google Chrome is one of the best and most used browsers in the world. It allows you to browse faster and have some additional features to customize the browser. Considering that you use Google Chrome for all of your browsing needs, here I am sharing a little tip which alone can save you 30-35 percent of your mobile browser data consumption.
There is an option named Data Saver in Google Chrome version of Android which allows you to compress web pages before loading them in your browser. Do note that enabling Data Saver will consume more memory of your device, resulting in slow device speed but a moment’s delay is worth it when your data lasts so much longer.
Just launch Chrome, tap the three dots in the top right hand corner, go down to Settings and then to Data Saver. Keep an eye on the graph every now and then to see your data savings grow.
Use WiFi Hotspot As Less As Possible
As I suggested above to turn off the automatic app updates, but I didn’t recommend “Auto-update apps over Wi-Fi only” because I observed a great problem due to this. In fact, whenever you will choose “Auto-update apps over Wi-Fi only”, it’s sure that apps will only update when Wi-Fi is available but if you use Wi-Fi hotspot in your Android phone, it will start automatically updating apps even when you’re not connected with a Wi-Fi.
This is because whenever you will make a Wi-Fi hotspot from your android device, system will think that your phone is connected to Wi-Fi, even when your regular Internet balance is draining.
Block Ads on Android To Reduce Data Usage
When you visit any website or you download an app then you may noticed that some ads are appearing. Those ads are also consuming your data as they are takes times to load with the web pages, but ads are necessary to keep alive that website or app but if you still want to reduce your data uses then you should block ads.
There are some ways to block ads on android device like you can use ad blocker to block ads on your android deice. we already published a full tutorial to block ads on android apps, games and browser
Reduce Data Usage In Android Device By Using Third Party Apps
Opera Max is a data-management and data-savings app that shrinks videos and photos on almost any app on mobile data connections, as well as Wi-Fi. There is a new option in Opera Max which save almost 80% of your internet usage data and provides you a faster web browsing experience. Along with it, you can also track how your apps behave on Wi-Fi. There is an App Blocking feature by which you can prevent apps from tracking your online behavior, using data without your permission or simply stop apps from running in the background to conserve precious battery life.
Onavo Extend is another great application for android devices which practically compresses data of your mobile and works with all the apps on your phone. This app works in background of your phone and directs your mobile data traffic through its servers and mobile data compression technology.
It works as caching process for your phone too, it means you won’t have to use your data to load the same images every time you visit a website or use an app because they’ll already be available to you on your phone. According to Google Play Store, there are more than 1 million downloads of this app till date and almost all users are satisfied with this app.
This app also shows you data reports of your mobile device, which means you can have a track record of each app of your phone and can react according to their mobile data usage. This app is available for free on Google Play Store and if you are an iOS user, then you can download this app from iTunes store.
